Rokita to Lead Indiana Delegation at Globalization Conference
Indianapolis, IN - Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita will lead a delegation of Hoosier leaders to Washington D.C. this week to participate in The George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs program "Governing in the Global Age."
The "Governing in the Global Age" program offers state and local leaders the opportunity to participate in executive briefings and debates with experts and colleagues on topics of global scope with critical implications for state and local policy and programs. Discussion topics will include globalization, multilateral trade agreements, international finance, international security, immigration and educating citizens for a global economy. The U.S. Department of Education has hailed "Governing in the Global Age" as a best practice.
"Globalization is an issue that has and will continue to effect every aspect of life in Indiana. I'm glad that such an experienced group of leaders has agreed to participate in this debate," Rokita said.
Secretary Rokita was asked to chair the Indiana delegation and select members to attend the conference. The Indiana delegation will include State Representatives Jerry Torr (R-Carmel) and Dan Stevenson (D-Highland), Mayor Matt McKillip of Kokomo, Mayor Wayne Seybold of Marion, and Lake Station High School teacher Tom Clark.
The Indiana delegation will be joined by groups from Arizona, Arkansas, Kentucky, Oregon, South Dakota, and Virginia as well as experts in the field and staff and students from The George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs.
