Rokita, Naylor to present award to stock savvy students TODAY
(Statehouse) -- Stock savvy students will be honored during the annual Indiana Council for Economic Education Annual Awards (ICEE) program to be held in the North Atrium Rotunda at the Indiana Statehouse today from 11am-noon. Secretary of State Todd Rokita and Securities Commissioner Chris Naylor will be presenting a check for $60,000 to Harlan Day, ICEE Executive Director, at 11:15a.m.
The Secretary of State's Securities Division Enforcement fund provides the grant to fund the Indiana High School Stock Market Simulation competition.
Students who participate in the Stock Market Simulation learn how the economic system works, analyze news regarding the economy and markets, strengthen their computer and Internet skills, learn to make decisions in teams, and participate in the statewide competition.
"I am pleased to present the Indiana Council for Economic Education with this $60,000 grant from the Indiana Secretary of State’s Securities Division fund for the seventeenth year," Rokita said. "The Indiana Stock Market game is a wonderful teaching tool for Hoosier students, teaching them the basics of the stock market, and I hope to see similar financial literacy focused programs develop for our students."
