After the general election, each county election board will send a set of official certified election returns to the Election Division no later than Tuesday, November 12, 2002. Each county election board has until Tuesday, November 19, 2002 to correct any error in the certified election returns.
After receiving these official certified election returns, the Election Division will prepare the Official Canvass of General Election Returns by Tuesday, November 26, 2002. If a recount petition is filed the Official Canvass may be revised based upon the results of the recount. A candidate must file a recount petition by noon, prevailing local time, Tuesday, November 12, 2002. A party chairman must file a recount petition by noon, prevailing local time, Friday, November 15, 2002. A recount for a state legislative office must be completed by December 19, 2002. A recount for a local or school board office must be completed by December 20, 2002.
