Voter Registration Deadline for General Election is Monday, October 4

Indianapolis, IN - Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita is reminding Hoosiers that Monday, October 4, is the last day to register to vote in the November 2, 2004 General Election. Anyone who is not registered to vote may register by the close of business Monday in person at the county voter registration office or county clerk's office.

Mail-in registrations must be postmarked by Monday. Voter registration forms and instructions for submitting them are available on Secretary Rokita's website at www.sos.IN.gov. Forms are also available at many government offices including the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. However, it is important to remember that BMV offices will be closed on Monday because of a new operations schedule.

Monday is also the first day to vote an absentee general election ballot before an absentee voter board in the office of the county clerk or board of elections and registration.

Questions may be directed to your county voter registration office or Secretary Rokita's Election Division at 1-800-622-4941.
