Fax Filings Policies and Guidelines:
Indiana law requires that fees be collected at the time a document is delivered for filing to the Secretary of State's Office. Therefore, a prepaid account is required for any person wishing to deliver documents via telefacsimile. An initial deposit of $450.00 is required to establish an account. Thereafter the customer will receive a balance statement monthly, after each transaction, or upon request. It is suggested that a minimum balance of $90.00 be maintained to ensure there are sufficient funds to pay the necessary fees associated with filings. Account Number - Each customer will receive notice of an exclusive account number. The number must accompany the faxed document. No other signature or consent will be required at the time of transmission of the document in order to debit the account. The account number is not public information. No one other than the customer and certain Secretary of State's Office employees will have knowledge of account numbers. Fax Number - Facsimile filings must be transmitted directly to the Secretary of State's Office in order for the filing fee to be deducted from the prepaid account. The only fax number by which filings may be delivered is 317.233.1915. Documents/Filings - Any document otherwise appropriate for filing may be delivered via facsimile. Requests for copies, certification, existence certificates, or information will not be accepted via fax. Processing - Upon receipt, the document will be processed along with documents received by regular mail that day, on a first come-first served basis. Normal processing time is three to five business days. In comparison, documents delivered via express service (e.g. FedEx, UPS) or walk-in are processed the day after receipt. For this reason it is strongly suggested that facsimile transmission be used only when a specific effective date is necessary or when other circumstances dictate it more advantageous than other forms of delivery. Contact Information - Please contact Tonia Wisniewski, Bookkeeper, at 317.232.6593 to establish a pre-paid fax filing account. |
