To become a notary, an individual must:

  • Be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Be a legal resident of the State of Indiana.

Additionally, the applicant must file the notary application online, along with a $11.22 application fee and proof of a $5,000 notarial bond good for the duration of the 8 year commission, with the secretary of state's office.
