Associate General Counsel
Bringing extensive professional knowledge in the areas of insurance, securities, general regulatory practice and state regulation law, Carol Mihalik serves as Associate General Counsel for the Office of the Indiana Secretary of State.
Mihalik’s time is split between overseeing the daily operations of the Dealer Services Division along with working on several cases for the Securities Division. Her talents continue to be instrumental in helping the office achieve its mission to serve as the state’s investment watchdog. Most recently, she served on behalf of the office as a deputy prosecutor for Sullivan County assisting in obtaining a verdict against fraudster and minister Vaughn Reeves.
Before joining the Secretary of State’s office in 2009, Mihalik served under two commissioners at the Indiana Department of Insurance. Additionally, she served in the Office of the Indiana Attorney General.
In the past, Mihalik served in various leadership roles within the regulatory industry, including the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and the National Association of Securities Administrators.
Mihalik is a registered civil mediator and a member of the Indiana Bar Association. She is admitted to practice in Indiana state and federal courts as well as the United States Supreme Court. She received her J.D. from the IU School of Law, Indianapolis and a B.S. Biology from the Pennsylvania State University.
