Indiana Deputy Secretary of State Jerry Bonnet appoints veteran office spokesperson as deputy chief of staff, communications director
AJ Feeney-Ruiz served as communications director to former Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita from 2005-2007
INDIANAPOLIS (March 15, 2011) –Deputy Secretary of State Jerry Bonnet has asked former Rokita spokesperson AJ Feeney-Ruiz to return to the Office of the Indiana Secretary of State as deputy chief of staff and acting communications director – the latter role Feeney-Ruiz held from 2005 to 2007 under the Rokita Administration.
“AJ is an accurate, respected communications veteran and a longstanding supporter of the office of the secretary of state. He can easily transition into his new role with us without the steep learning curve others may have encountered,” Bonnet said. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to a team of division directors that is mostly unchanged from the time he left after his first tenure.”
Feeney-Ruiz returns to government after four years running his own consulting company based in Indianapolis. Feeney-Ruiz is a graduate of DePauw University and Indiana University – Indianapolis School of Law. He is completing his MBA also at Indiana University.
“I’m humbled at the opportunity to resume working with friends and colleagues in the agency and statehouse press core. I greatly enjoyed representing Hoosier families and businesses here at the beginning of my career in Indiana state government, and look forward to doing so again,” Feeney-Ruiz said.
Feeney-Ruiz can be reached at 317-233-8655 or by email at aj@sos.IN.gov and will begin work on Wednesday, March 16.
