SOS > Media Center >  Press Releases > 2008 Press Releases > For Immediate Release: December 4, 2008 Indiana Recount Commission to Meet Sunday to Conduct House District 26 Recount

Tallying of ballots was completed this week in Tippecanoe and Warren counties

(Indianapolis) – Please note the following update: The Indiana Recount Commission will now meet Sunday, December 7th, 2008, at Noon in the Tippecanoe Room on the first floor of the Tippecanoe County Office Building, 20 North 3rd Street, in Lafayette.

The meeting will take the place of the meeting previously scheduled and announced for Saturday, December 6th.

The Commission will rule on the recount and determine a final count in the election for Indiana House of Representatives, District 26, between Republican Randy Truitt and Democrat John Polles.

"This process provides us a good opportunity, on the heels of an already successful election, to spot check our procedures in a very transparent way," said Secretary Rokita. "It also gives the voters and taxpayers of District 26 confidence in the system that will determine who will represent them at the Statehouse."
