The downturn in the economy hit some Hoosier’s harder than others. When they were at risk of losing their home due to unemployment or underemployment, they may have been eligible for financial assistance to pay their mortgage through the Hardest Hit Fund (HHF). In return, they had to participate in an approved training, education, or volunteer work program.
HoosierCorps was the name of the Hardest Hit Fund Volunteer Service Program (HHF VSP), and was one of the three types of structured activities HHF clients could select to comply with HHF guidelines. HoosierCorps allowed HHF clients to volunteer by matching client skills, abilities, and interests with volunteer opportunities at non-profit organizations in their communities. HHF clients were able to choose from a variety of volunteer opportunities by contacting one of several non-profit agencies in their community, where they volunteered for 20 hours per month while receiving HHF benefits.
The Hoosier Corps program officially ends on March 31, 2015. We want to thank all of the wonderful volunteers for spending their time giving back to their communities! We would also like to thank all of the regional administrators that managed the volunteer programs across the state!
If you are an individual in need of assistance or would like to determine if you are eligible for the HHF program please contact the Indiana Foreclosure Prevention Network through their website http://www.877gethope.org/ or by calling 1-877-GET-HOPE.

"My background in music, marketing, and sales certainly doesn't pertain to helping children through the use of equestrian therapy, in fact, it could be a 100% shift from where I thought I "should be", but it has given me a life altering opportunity as well, to take a big step back from the hectic rat race of modern business and focus on what really matters in life. In my opinion, after the past few months of the program, I can tell you I believe it is at the heart of what our nation is in desperate need of; slowing down, taking a step back, looking around you, and giving even just a small amount of time to help of those in need. I can tell you that it has changed me forever, and I can 100% guarantee that it has been 1,000 times more rewarding than ANY bonus check, ANY pay raise, or ANY promotion. It WILL change your life and your heart for the better, and that's a guarantee."
