BMV expands hours, customer service options for voters needing IDs

INDIANAPOLIS - Ron Stiver, Commissioner of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), today announced that BMV license branches will extend hours of operation on Monday, May 5 and on Tuesday, May 6 to issue state identification cards and driver licenses needed for the general election.

Full service license branches, normally closed on Mondays, will be open on Monday, May 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Branches will be open on Tuesday, May 6 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Indiana BMV provides free, state-issued ID cards for voting purposes to any unlicensed Hoosier, as long as he or she can provide proper documentation and is old enough to vote in the next general election. The following documents are required to obtain a state identification card or driver license. (A complete list can be found at www.mybmv.IN.gov):

Customers seeking state-issued photo identification cards or driver licenses for voting purposes will receive priority both days, although license branch associates will work to accommodate all customers.

The BMV2You mobile unit will provide additional customer service during these days as follows:

All license branches will resume regular business hours on Wednesday, May 7.
