INDIANAPOLIS (January 3, 2006)  Governor Mitch Daniels today announced the appointment of Jeffrey Golc of Greenwood to the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. Golc will fill the vacancy left by the resignation of David Hadley.

Golc has previously served as deputy commissioner for the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles and Indiana Department of Workforce Development and was a member of the Indianapolis City-County Council from 1988-1999. He is currently the public affairs manager for The Kroger Company and received the Kroger President's Award for outstanding achievement in 2005. Golc received his undergraduate and master's degrees from Indiana University.

"Jeff has a commendable history of government and community leadership," said Daniels. "His experience building bipartisan consensus will be a great asset as the IURC addresses a number of critical issues that are vital to the state"s economic growth."

Following an application period and interviews, the IURC Nominating Committee, chaired by Mike Sample, recommended three candidates for the governor's consideration based on education and academic honors received, professional experience and reputation, financial interests in the utility industry, and public service.

Golc's appointment will be effective January 15.
