Governor Mitch Daniels today directed Mark Massa, his general counsel, to send a letter to the chairman of the Indiana Republican and Democratic parties to seek their input about selection of a date for a special election in Indiana's Seventh Congressional district to replace U.S. Representative Julia Carson, who died December 15. According to state and federal law, the governor is required to set a date for a special election.
