Lanane salutes Pendleton Heights
technology grant
Sen. Lanane
participates in award ceremony
INDIANAPOLIS ¿ State Senator Tim Lanane,
(D-Anderson) today applauded Madison County¿s Pendleton
Heights Middle
School for being awarded a $1,500 grant that will
be used to purchase new technology.
¿In today¿s world technology can make the difference between good and
great,¿ said Lanane. ¿Pendleton Heights
is a great school with great students and teachers and this grant will make it
even better.
¿Pendleton
Heights worked hard
through a very competitive process to receive this grant and we are very proud
of them,¿ added Lanane.
The EDS Technology Grant was presented
during an event in the Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis. Pendleton Heights Middle School was one of eight schools across the state to receive
this award.
The EDS Technology Grant
Program helps teachers of children ages six through 18 purchase information
technology products and services that will improve their students¿ ability to
learn. Once a year, $1,500 grants are awarded to teachers through a competitive
application process. Teachers are asked to explain the innovative nature of the
project, how students will use the technology and how the technology will
improve students¿ ability to achieve the objectives of their curriculum.
Norman Clifford, whose grant
proposal was selected, teaches eighth grade science at Pendleton Heights
and will use the funding to purchase water quality collection probes. These
probes will be used to collect data in the field that can be downloaded
directly into a computer in the classroom or a creek-side laptop. The water
quality of Fall Creek will be monitored by the students using these probes and
the information collected by the students will be shared with the local park
department and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
EDS is a global technology
services company with clients in the manufacturing, financial services,
healthcare, communications, energy, transportation, consumer and retail industries
and governments around the world.
