INDIANAPOLIS-- State Senator Jim Arnold (D-LaPorte) will be the keynote speaker at the upcoming Northwest Indiana Law Enforcement Academy graduation on November 16. A retired LaPorte County Sheriff, Sen. Arnold said he is honored to celebrate the new recruits' completion of training.
"Law enforcement is an honorable profession that requires tremendous commitment, not only by the officers but also by their families," Arnold commented. "My wish for these recruits is a safe and fulfilling career of service to their communities."
The Northwest Indiana Law Enforcement Academy was established in 1982 to help train police officers in Indiana. The Academy provides in-service training programs to over 1,800 police officers, offering in-service training classes and two 15-week basic recruit academy classes annually.
Sen. Arnold represents District 8 in the Indiana State Senate which encompasses the majority of La Porte County including the City of La Porte and the eastern part of Michigan City. It also includes western St. Joseph County and Davis, Oregon, Washington, Center and Jackson townships in Starke County.
