INDIANAPOLIS-- State Senator Jim Arnold (D-LaPorte) has announced his intention to visit "30 businesses in 30 days," making personal calls to at least 30 local businesses in his district over the next month. Sen. Arnold says he wants to meet with local business owners and tour company sites to gain a better understanding of how current economic conditions are affecting them and how the state can help them succeed.
Business owners and managers in LaPorte County, western St. Joseph County and northern Starke County are encouraged to contact Sen. Arnold now to set up a visit during the month of October. His office can be reached at (317) 232-9532 or S8@iga.IN.gov.
"I believe we can do a better job in helping businesses grow, and no one knows the needs better than the owners and managers of our local businesses. That's why I most enjoy meeting one-on-one and seeing what great work is being done," Sen. Arnold said. "If there is something the state can do to help them expand and succeed, then we should be working on it now."
Sen. Arnold serves as a member of the Interim Study Committee on Economic Development, a legislative group assigned to reviewing and recommending policies that will attract new business investment and help Indiana businesses grow.
"My plan is to listen to the owners and managers, learn from their success stories, and take the best suggestions to the Statehouse to make those changes happen," Sen, Arnold added.
Sen. Arnold represents District 8 in the Indiana State Senate which encompasses the majority of La Porte County including the City of La Porte and the eastern part of Michigan City. It also includes western St. Joseph County and Davis, Oregon, Washington, Center and Jackson townships in Starke County.
