Some Kosciusko County residents have inquired about livestock and poultry operations that are being proposed in Kosciusko County. To help answer the public's questions about the state's environmental regulations for confined feeding operations and the state's permitting process, IDEM will hold a public informational meeting from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at the Warsaw Community Library (Meeting Room C), 310 East Main Street, Warsaw, Ind.
At the open house-style meeting, IDEM staff will be available to answer questions and provide information regarding IDEM's confined feeding operation permitting process and inspection program. An Indiana Department of Natural Resources staff person also will be available to provide information regarding groundwater usage.
Citizens can find information about the IDEM permit review process on the agency's website at www.idem.IN.gov/4994.htm.
Established in 1986, IDEM (www.idem.IN.gov) implements federal and state regulations regarding the environment. Through compliance assistance, incentive programs and educational outreach, the agency encourages and aids businesses and citizens in protecting Hoosiers and our environment.
