The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) is working with Prince's Lakes Wastewater Treatment Plant personnel to restore operations at the facility. IDEM was informed Tuesday that untreated and/or partially treated wastewater is being discharged to Driftwood River.
Area residents are advised to avoid contact with the river water in the area of the facility and Henderson Ford Bridge. Pets should also be kept out of the water. Individuals who think they may have come in contact with wastewater from the facility should follow standard precautions to avoid ingestion of the water and wash skin thoroughly with soap and water.
The Prince's Lake Wastewater Treatment Plant collects and treats wastewater from homes and businesses in the town of Prince's Lakes, as well as Camp Atterbury. Sewer service is not expected to be interrupted as a result of the incident.
