Impaired Driver Chased and Arrested in Vanderburgh County

Vanderburgh County - Monday morning, May 9, at approximately 2:50 a.m., Troopers Wes Kuykendall and Chris Dyer attempted to stop a vehicle on Burkhardt Road near Virginia for speeding. The driver turned east onto Virginia and accelerated to a high rate of speed before stopping abruptly in the middle of the roadway.  The driver exited his vehicle and stumbled toward both troopers.  The driver was identified as Clayton D. Cagle, 32, of Evansville. While handcuffing Cagle, troopers detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and determined he was impaired. Cagle was arrested for driving while intoxicated and resisting law enforcement.  He was taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail where he is currently being held without bond.
