Vincennes - Monday afternoon, August 23, Indiana State Police received information that Brandon Whiting, 26, of Vincennes, had an active warrant out of Sullivan County for failure to appear.  After arriving at his apartment located at 818 Hart Street apartment U4, troopers spotted a 1999 Hyundai Sonata parked on Shelby Street near Whiting's apartment.  A computer check revealed the license plate on the Hyundai had been reported stolen to Vincennes Police on August 10^th.  Troopers approached the apartment and located Whiting and his girlfriend, Ashley Welton, 25.  Further investigation revealed the vehicle with the stolen license plate was owned by Welton. Troopers searched the apartment and found meth, drug paraphernalia and ingredients commonly used to manufacture meth.  A search of Welton's vehicle revealed more meth making materials and ingredients.  "Welton's vehicle was parked 25 feet from St. John's Lutheran Daycare," said Trooper Doug Francis. . Whiting and Welton were arrested and taken to the Knox County Jail where they are currently being held on bond.  Shelby Street was closed for approximately one hour while troopers dismantled the meth lab.

1.       Manufacturing Meth within 1,000 feet of a School, Class A Felony

2.      Possession of Meth within 1,000 feet of a School, Class B Felony

3.      Possession of Pre-Cursors within 1,000 feet of a School, Class C Felony

4.      Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Class D Felony

5.      Possession of Stolen Property, Class D Felony

6.      Possession of Paraphernalia, Class A Misdemeanor
