Information Received through Arson Hotline Leads to Two Arrests

INDIANAPOLIS - Two arrests have been made in connection to an intentionally set fire on July 14 at the Grandview Apostolic Church in Brown County. Information gathered from the Indiana Arson Hotline and the Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana Hotline led to the arrest of one adult, Stephen Moore, and one juvenile.

The Indiana State Fire Marshal's Office is a division of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.

"We are extremely grateful for the assistance of the individuals who have utilized the state Arson Hotline and the Central Indiana Crime Stoppers tip line to provide information regarding this fire," said Indiana State Fire Marshal Jim Greeson. "Their information has been extraordinarily helpful in furthering the investigation to this point, and we strongly encourage anyone with additional information to call these hotlines."

The Indiana State Fire Marshal's Office, the Brown County Prosecutor's Office, the Brown County Sheriff's Department and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) continue to review evidence in the fire investigation. The investigation is ongoing so available information will be limited.

The Indiana State Fire Marshal's Office continues to monitor the Indiana Arson Hotline (800-382-4628) in addition to the Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana Hotline (317-262-TIPS). Those with information about the Grandview Apostolic Church fire or any other intentionally set fire are encouraged to call either line. All calls will be kept confidential.

An award of up to $1,000 is being offered through the Crime Stoppers Hotline.  An award of up to $5,000 through the Indiana Arson Hotline is available for individuals who provide information leading to the arrest and conviction of a person(s) in connection with the intentionally set fire.
