Jennings County: Early this morning Indiana State Police and Jennings County deputies took down a southern Jennings County meth lab and arrested a Paris Crossing man. About three or four days ago Trooper Derek Simpson received an anonymous tip of a possible meth lab being operated at 10480 S CR 525W in Paris Crossing. After watching the residence for the last few days, troopers and Jennings County deputies did a "stop and knock" at the residence just after midnight and the occupant, 46 year old Mack Ross gave officers permission to enter the residence. Upon entry the officers observed several articles of paraphernalia and other evidence of illegal drug activity. They immediately secured the residence and then obtained a search warrant for the rest of the residence and out buildings on the property. After executing the search warrant officers discovered a working meth lab. Ross was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held in the Jennings County Jail facing the following charges:
Dealing in Methamphetamine-Class B Felony
Possession of Methamphetamine-Class D Felony
Maintaining a Common Nuisance-Class D Felony
Possession of 2 or more Chemical Reagents or Precursors with Intent to Manufacture Methamphetamine-Class D Felony
Unlawful Storage or Transportation of Anhydrous Ammonia-Class A Misdemeanor
This case is a classic result of an anonymous tip leading to a drug arrest. The Indiana State Police encourage citizens to get involved if they suspect any illegal activity. Citizens can report crimes of any kind to the Indiana State Police and those tips will be followed up. Anyone with information regarding illegal activity can call the Indiana State Police at any of the following numbers:
