Indiana State Police arrested a Marion, Indiana man at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon on drug charges.
Senior Trooper Ron Halbert Jr., marijuana eradication coordinator for the Redkey District, obtained two search warrants from Grant County Superior Court I this afternoon. Halbert Jr. received a tip from the Grant County Joint Effort Against Narcotics Team (J.E.A.N. Team) on January 9, 2010of an indoor marijuana grow operation on one of the suspect's properties.
Halbert Jr. and officers from the J.E.A.N. Team and troopers from the Redkey District served the search warrants at two residences owned by Robert G. Griffin Jr., age 39, 616 North Washington Street Marion, Indiana.
Thirty-two live marijuana plants and an active indoor grow operation containing hydroponics grow equipment were located at a vacant residence, 2206 South Boots Street Marion, Indiana. A large amount of processed marijuana was located at both residences. Griffin Jr. was arrested without incident at his primary residence, 616 North Washington Street, and preliminarily charged with:
- Cultivating marijuana over 30 grams, class "D" felony.
- Maintaining a common nuisance, class "D" felony.
Griffin Jr. was taken to the Grant County Jail where he was held on $5,000.00 bond.
