ALLEN, GRANT, STEUBEN, DEKALB, NOBLE, WHITLEY, HUNTINGTON, WELLS, WABASH COUNTIES, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and the Indiana State Police (ISP) announce the movement of oversized loads on southbound I- 69 to be moved from the Indiana-Michigan state line, Exit 157, to Marion, Exit 64, on Thursday, Jan. 14 and on Saturday, Jan. 16. These oversized loads will reduce speeds and cause traffic obstructions. Please note on Jan. 16, this will be a double load. This is a weather permitting event.
Both loads will leave the Indiana-Michigan state line at 8:30 a.m. with approximate arrival times in the following cities:
. Angola area - arrival between 8:30-9:30 a.m.
. Fort Wayne area - arrival between 9:30-10:30 a.m.
. Bluffton area - arrival between 10:30-11 a.m.
. Marion area - arrival between 11 a.m. - noon. At Exit 64, the oversized load will take S.R. 18 west for 8 miles. ISP will block intersections so that the load can safely pass through Marion and onto the GM plant.
These times are approximate and based on times from prior transport operations.
Additional loads are expected to be moved through February.
Motorists may wish to select alternate routes and/or plan accordingly for the traffic delays on I-69 southbound.
Diamond Heavy Hauling, Inc. of Shandon, Ohio, is transporting the oversized load.
