STATEHOUSE-Businesses from all over Indiana gathered Wednesday at the Statehouse to receive recognition for longevity and community service.
Gov. Mitch Daniels, Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman and Secretary of Commerce Mitch Roob honored businesses that have been able to keep their doors open for more than 50 years and for more than 100 years.
Rep. Dan Leonard (R-Huntington) was on-hand to assist in awarding four Huntington County businesses. Cline Transfer, Inc. (53 Years), Huntington Heating & Cooling (50 Years), Lehman Floor Covering, Inc. (55 Years) and South Side Marathon (82 Years) were all awarded with the half century award.
"In today's world of conglomerates, such as Wal-Mart and AOL, operating your own business is more cut throat than ever," Rep. Leonard said. "Hard work and dedication help make a business successful and there is no doubt these business owners have put in their fair share to keep their businesses running for half a century."
The Statehouse ceremony recognized 97 Indiana companies from all over the state. The awards have been handed out for 19 years and have honored more than 1,300 Indiana businesses.
