STATEHOUSE (Nov. 6, 2009) - Senate President Pro Tem David Long (R - Fort Wayne) this week named Greenwood native Adam Harrison as the new policy analyst and staff writer for the Senate Majority Communications Office.

Harrison is a graduate of Purdue University, where he studied Political Science and Computer Information Technology.

For the past three legislative sessions, Harrison served as a press secretary for the Indiana House of Representatives.

"Adam offered a unique blend of education and experience to the Indiana Senate," Long said. "His high-caliber education in political science and technology coupled with his understanding of state issues, the legislative process and statehouse personalities set him apart from other candidates for this key position. We expect him to be a great asset to our communications crew."
 
Harrison is joining a 10-member communications team responsible for print, radio, television and e-communications for the Senate's 33-member Republican caucus.

"As a policy analyst, Adam will research state issues, track and analyze legislation, monitor governmental blogs and Web sites, and assist senators during committee and floor proceedings. As a staff writer, he will help develop talking points, issue briefs and speeches, as well as assist Senate press secretaries with news releases and news conferences," Long said.

"I look forward to working with the senators and Senate staff as we ramp-up for the 2010 legislative session," Adam said. "This is a pivotal time in national, state and local government, as our leaders move us forward from the national recession and craft policies for government to do more with less. There is much work to do in the coming months to assist in Indiana's comeback. I'm eager to be part of these critical efforts."

Harrison, a 2003 graduate of Center Grove High School, is the son of Larry and Lisa Harrison of Greenwood. He now resides in Washington Township on Indianapolis' north side.
