STATEHOUSE (Oct. 9, 2009) - State Sen. Gary Dillon (R-Columbia City) today announced WorkOne Northeast and Harvey Industries will host a recruiting event Tuesday for as many as 50 jobs that will pay between $10 to $15 an hour.
Dillon said the event is planned Tuesday at the Honeywell Center, located at 275 W. Market St. in Wabash, from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
"The company is looking to hire machine operators as well as assembly, molding, foundry, quality assurance and industrial maintenance workers," Dillon said. "Applicants are encouraged to come with an updated resume and valid identification - either a state-issued driver's license or birth certificate."
In operation since 1979, the company manufactures a variety of components for the automotive industry. Included inside the facility is a 120,000 square-foot foundry and a 45,000 square-foot machining operation. Parts made here have in recent years been used to build Chrysler Corp.'s J-cars, General Motors' Cadillacs and other passenger vehicles, including Corvettes.
In addition to entry level pay of $10 to $15 per hour, benefits available after 90 days on the job include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401K plan and vacation. Dillon said positions available included all three work shifts:
- From 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.;
- From 2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.; and
- From 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have at least a G.E.D. and possess a valid driver's license. Dillon added that prior manufacturing or foundry experience is preferred, but not required. Dependable transportation is a must. All prospective employees will be required to complete a pre-employment drug screening and physical.
