ALLEN, GRANT, STEUBEN, DEKALB, NOBLE, WHITLEY, HUNTINGTON, WELLS, WABASH COUNTIES, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and the Indiana State Police (ISP) announce the oversized load moving schedule of the GM press sections for Saturday, Oct. 10, on I-69 southbound from the Indiana-Michigan State Line, Exit 157, to Marion, Exit 64. Convoys will cause reduced speeds and traffic obstructions.
. Saturday, Oct. 10 -Arrival in Fort Wayne at approximately 9:30 a.m.
-Arrival in Marion before noon
. Moving operation will not take place on Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 12 as expected.
A schedule for the week of Oct. 12-16 will be forthcoming, with two loads expected for movement on Wednesday, Oct. 14. A confirmation of the schedule will be released as soon as possible.
Convoys, under ISP direction, will be moving individual press sections from the
General Motors plant in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to the GM Metal Fabrication Plant in Marion. ISP will relieve traffic and allow emergency services to pass the convoy through radio communications.
At Exit 64, the convoy will take S.R. 18 west for 8 miles. ISP will block intersections so that the convoy can pass safely through Marion and onto the GM plant.
Motorists may wish to select alternate routes and/or plan accordingly for the traffic delays on I-69 southbound.
Diamond Heavy Hauling, Inc. of Shandon, Ohio, is transporting the press sections.
