EAST CHICAGO, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces U.S. 12/20 (Indianapolis Boulevard) between Columbus Drive and Riley Road in East Chicago will be closed for approximately one month beginning Aug. 3. This will allow crews to perform maintenance and repair construction on the lift bridge over the Lake George Canal.

Residents and businesses will have access to their properties on either side of the closure, but through traffic will be detoured. Westbound U.S. 12/20 traffic will be directed to take State Road 912 (Cline Avenue) west to U.S. 41 north and back to U.S. 12/20. Eastbound traffic will be directed to take U.S. 41 south to S.R. 912 east and back to U.S. 12/20.
