Rep. Brown Statement on the the State Budget and Unemployment Insurance

Please include the following statements from Rep. Brown in your coverage of legislative action on these issues:

State budget

"We needed to pass a budget that doesn't spend the state's reserves and wisely spends stimulus funds. Unfortunately, the budget before us last night proposed vast overspending and would have raised the chances of a tax increase in a couple of years. During these tough economic times, Hoosiers should be upset."

Unemployment insurance

"The passed unemployment insurance bill hurts Hoosiers more then it helps them," said Rep. Brown. "It includes new tax increases on businesses that could cause even more layoffs. To me, and to many of my House colleagues, that was unacceptable."
