INDIANAPOLIS-Hoosiers in 21 counties should benefit from 29 infrastructure projects valued at $43.6 million that have been identified by INDOT for its second round of funding with federal stimulus money.
"INDOT continues to follow the mandate of Governor Mitch Daniels by rapidly pinpointing projects that will put Hoosiers to work across Indiana," said Karl B. Browning, Commissioner-INDOT. "We are identifying geographically diverse projects that represent different types of infrastructure work."
The current list of projects (below) includes road construction, resurfacing, bridge construction, highway maintenance, and improved traffic safety measures.
Funding for these projects will come from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act signed by President Barack Obama on February 17.
These stimulus-related projects are being advertised today (Friday, Feb. 27) for bids by contractors. The bids will be opened on Wednesday, March 25. They will be awarded on a lowest-bid basis.
NOTE: One of the projects on the February letting list (SR 56 over Laughery Creek) was pulled after it was advertised due to errors in the project. So, the total number of projects in February was 26 in 23 counties with a value of just over $39 million. The SR 56/Laughery Creek project should be corrected in time for a future letting list.
