Lt. Governor Skillman Awards Indiana Association of Regional Councils $150,000 for Community Development in Rural Areas
Lt. Governor Becky Skillman recently awarded a $150,000 Rural Development Grant to the Indiana Association of Regional Councils (IARC). The grant will be used to fund IARC's work in forming partnerships to serve the needs of rural Indiana. IARC will establish a framework of services and create a unified strategy to build rural communities across Indiana. Twelve regional economic development councils will provide new services in underserved areas, and will assist in the expansion of existing services in other areas.
The following 33 Indiana counties will receive assistance as a result of the grant: Bartholomew, Blackford, Boone, Brown, Carroll, Clinton, Gibson, Grant, Fountain, Fulton, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Howard, Jackson, Jay, Johnson, Marion, Miami, Monroe, Montgomery, Morgan, Owen, Posey, Shelby, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Vanderburgh, Wabash, Warren and Warrick.
"Rural development grants are important tools that can encourage economic growth and prosperity throughout our state," said Lt. Governor Becky Skillman. "I am pleased to award this grant to the Indiana Association of Regional Councils. The association is an important partner with state government in our efforts to help communities identify ways to help communities promote job creation and workforce development."
