UPDATE: Because of rainy weather, the resurface construction on U.S. 421 between S.R. 8 and S.R. 10 described in the press release below has been postponed until Oct. 16. The work schedule is subject to change in the event of inclement weather.
LAPORTE and STARKE COUNTIES, Ind. - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces U.S. 421 between State Road 8 (S.R. 8) in LaPorte County and State Road 10 (S.R. 10) in Starke County will be closed during the daylight hours of Oct. 14 during resurface construction.
Residents and businesses will have access to their properties inside the closure. However, INDOT advises motorists to use caution when traveling through the work zone as the roadway will be covered with dust and unmarked lanes at times.
Through U.S. 421 traffic will be detoured. Posted signs will direct northbound traffic to take S.R. 10 east to State Road 39 (S.R. 39) north to S.R. 8 west and back to U.S. 421. Southbound traffic will be directed to take S.R. 8 east to S.R. 39 south to S.R. 10 west and back to U.S. 421.
The work schedule is subject to change in the event of inclement weather. For the latest news and information about INDOT, please visit www.in.gov/indot.
