Barbara Boyd, Howard Caldwell receive Indiana Lifetime Achievement Awards
Today, Lt. Governor Becky Skillman and Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) Secretary Mitch Roob presented 17 seniors from around the state with the Golden Hoosier Award. The event, held at the Governor's Residence, honored senior Hoosiers for their volunteer work in the community.
"There are countless Hoosiers with big hearts who serve our state and the community daily, never asking anything in return," said Lt. Gov. Skillman. "It is wonderful to recognize some of those individuals who are making a real difference in the lives of others."
Lt. Governor Skillman and FSSA collaborated to create the first-ever Golden Hoosier Award. It is considered one of the highest honors given by the state to seniors.
"Each of the recipients honored today encourages those around their communities on a daily basis," said Secretary Roob. "It was a pleasure to be able to collaborate with Lt. Governor Skillman to recognize these incredible role models."
Retired television reporters Barbara Boyd and Howard Caldwell were also honored with Indiana Lifetime Achievement Awards for their commitment to the state. The Indiana Lifetime Achievement Award is one of the state's highest awards given to any individual who demonstrates outstanding devotion to the state.
"Barbara and Howard are beloved Indiana reporters who continue to serve Hoosiers even in their retirement," said Lt. Gov. Skillman. "It was my honor to present them the Indiana Lifetime Achievement Award to acknowledge the impact they have made on their profession and their communities."
Recipients of the Golden Hoosier Awards celebrated with family, friends and representatives from Indiana Area Agencies on Aging.
