The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) received top honors in the Not-For-Profit/Government Booth category during the 38th Annual Indiana Black Expo held July 18 through July 20 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.
IDEM's exhibit featured banners displaying various land, water and air activities the agency engages in to protect Hoosiers and the environment. Children were able to participate in an interactive, colorful game called "Use Your Brain," and 400 adults were given energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs. These light bulbs provide up to 75 percent in energy savings and last 10 times longer than regular bulbs.
"We are pleased to be a part of Black Expo each year, reaching out to let everyone know that they can make a difference in the environment," said IDEM Commissioner Thomas Easterly. "Conveying our positive message in a visually appealing manner generated a great deal of enthusiasm toward protecting Hoosiers and the environment."
