The Indiana Department of Labor Signs Cooperative Safety and Health Alliance with Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association
Indianapolis, IN July 2, 2008 - The Indiana Department of Labor and the Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association (IRMCA) have entered into a strategic occupational safety and health alliance.
They will formally sign the agreement on July 9, at 10:30 a.m. in the Rotunda in the State Capitol Building. Media is invited to attend. Attending from the Indiana Department of Labor will be Commissioner of Labor, Lori Torres, Deputy Commissioner of Indiana OSHA, Jeffry Carter, and Deputy Commissioner Sean M. Keefer who manages the OSHA Consultation division, INSafe. Board of Directors President, Steve Fidler, Vice President, Paul Manoski, Secretary/Treasurer, Mark Jones and other members of the IRMCA Board will be in attendance representing IRMCA.
The goal of the alliance is the advancement of health and safety in the workplace and the interchange of information, best practices and resources.
INSafe will provide expertise in developing information on the recognition and prevention of workplace hazards and will also provide on-site consultation and training assistance.
IRMCA will share information with IDOL personnel and industry safety and health professionals regarding IRMCA best practices or effective approaches and publicize results through outreach by IRMCA and through IDOL events, print media, etc. IRMCA will report key injury rate numbers in an aggregate form to IDOL for the purpose of tracking overall trends in injury rates for the Association.
This agreement will remain in effect for two years.
