Fort Harrison State Park to Host 38th Division Band for Old-Fashioned Band Concert on Thursday, June 26th

In celebration of the coming July 4th holiday weekend, Fort Harrison State Park will host the 38th Division Band in an Old-Fashioned Band Concert of patriotic music on Thursday, June 26th at 7:00p.m. on the sledding hill across from the Reddick shelter.

The 38th Division Band, Indiana National Guard stationed in Indianapolis, is the only military band in the State of Indiana.  The 38th Division Band has long been recognized as one of the finest musical organizations in the Midwest, performing in community events as well as military functions.  The members live throughout the Midwest and have full time civilian jobs to include band directors, professional musicians, college students and more.   As ambassadors of the Indiana National Guard, the 57 member unit has recently performed at the Indianapolis 500 and for Vice President Dick Cheney.  The 38th Division Band is commanded by Chief Warrant Officer Two Patrick L. Palumbo. 
 
The June 26th Band Concert is free to the public, the normal week-day gate fee of $4 per carload applies.  This is an open-air concert, park should bring a blanket, insect repellent and dress for the weather.
