The Indiana Department of Labor Signs Cooperative Safety and Health Partnership for Phase V of the Indiana Convention Center Project
Indianapolis, IN May 12, 2008 - The Indiana Department of Labor and Shiel Sexton/Powers and Sons, a joint venture have entered into a strategic occupational safety and health partnership for the Indiana Convention Center Phase V Project.
The goal of the partnership is the advancement of health and safety in the workplace, which encompasses the reduction of the number and severity of injuries, and the elimination of all fatalities on the construction project. The agreement will include the Construction Project Manager, Shiel Sexton/Powers and Sons and all associated contractors.
The agreement, in place for a period of two years, allows for certain inspection deferrals by the Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration (IOSHA), however, it does not waive any aspect of the Act, nor IOSHA enforcement in the event of a complaint, serious injury or death.
