Lieutenant Governor Skillman Awards $45,000 Planning Grant to Town of LaGrange

Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman recently awarded the Town of LaGrange a $45,000 planning grant to fund a youth center feasibility study. The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs administers the planning grants through the Small Cities and Towns Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.

"Planning grants are invaluable tools that can help rural communities improve the quality of life for their residents," said Lt. Governor Skillman, who also serves as Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development.  "I am pleased to award this grant to the Town of LaGrange.  It shows good foresight to investigate the options available to improve your community."

The study will examine community needs for the construction of a youth center in LaGrange.  As part of the study, recommendations for potential location, facility size, and staff will be provided. Various alternatives including timelines and cost analyses will also be included in the study.

The CDBG grant program has proven to be an effective tool for community-based planning and research initiatives that improve local quality of life and economic opportunities.
