INSPECT conducts routine audits of DEA numbers submitted to the database. If a DEA number is found to be invalid or in question, INSPECT will contact the dispensing pharmacy and ask for further clarification or request a correction.
If you have received a letter from INSPECT instructing you to correct an invalid DEA number, you must do so by submitting a Pharmacy Change Order Request.
