Important Notice Regarding Changes to Indiana Law Concerning Professional Corporations for Licensed Occupations: Starting January 1st, 2018, pursuant to House Enrolled Act 1308, new laws concerning professional corporation licensing will go into effect. Please be advised this change affects any licensed professional seeking or renewing a certificate of registration from the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency.

 

House Enrolled Act 1308 eliminates the requirement that a licensed professional apply for a certificate of registration from the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency before the Secretary of State may issue a certificate of incorporation. Prior to this change in law, a licensed professional was required to apply and pay a fee to the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency to receive a certification of registration verifying the licensee is in fact licensed in the relevant occupation before receiving a certificate of incorporation from the Office of the Indiana Secretary of State.

 

This streamlined process now allows for the licensed professional to work directly with the Secretary of State to obtain proper registration and maintenance for a professional corporation.

 

Please note, if you have already submitted an application for a certificate of registration or for a renewal, your application will be processed and completed in a timely manner. The IPLA will continue to issue certificates of registration until this law goes into effect.

 

Please be advised, the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency will not send out a notification for the renewal cycle as the certificates of registration do not expire until after the law goes into effect (January 31st).

 

Licensees are asked to work directly with the Secretary of State’s office for any additional questions regarding a certificate of incorporation for a professional corporation.
