  • Pharmacy technician licenses expire June 30 of even-numbered years.  The next renewal deadline is June 30, 2014.
  • The pharmacy technician license renewal fee is $25.
  • Pharmacy technician-in-training permits (permit number begins with "99") are valid for one (1) year after the date of issuance.  The technician in training permit is a nonrenewable permit. 
  • Pharmacy technicians are now required to obtain the NABP e-Profile # in order to renew.


Renewal notices are sent approximately sixty (60) days prior to the expiration date.  License holders with valid e-mail addresses on file will be e-mailed the renewal notice.  Those who do not have valid e-mail addresses on file will be mailed the license renewal notice; this notice is mailed to the address of record with the Board and does not contain an actual renewal application but directs them to our website to complete the online renewal process. 

The Board has no way of knowing whether or not a notice reaches its destination; therefore, when a notice has been e-mailed to a valid e-mail address or mailed, the duty of the Board has been performed.

Online Renewal
LicenseExpress is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by using your complete license number (67000000A) as your Login ID and the last four (4) digits of your social security number as your password.  You are able to pay your renewal fees by using Visa, MasterCard, or Discover credit or debit card on our secure server.  There are access & credit card fees associated with renewing on-line; no part of these fees comes to IPLA. 

Using LicenseExpress to renew takes only minutes and your renewal will be processed and available for verification the next business day.  You are able to update your address, e-mail address, and telephone number as part of the renewal process.

The LicenseExpress online renewal option is available 60 days prior to your license expiration date; you do not have to receive your renewal notice prior to using this system.

Paper Renewal
The renewal notice that is e-mailed does not include a paper renewal application, but advises you to e-mail to request one to be e-mailed to you. 

The only payment options associated with the paper renewal are check or money order; we cannot accept credit/debit card payments with paper renewals


The Indiana Professional Licensing Agency NO longer automatically mails updated license cards when your license is renewed.  You must verify that your license has been renewed by using the "Search and Verify License" option from our website; please allow 24 hours (1 business day) for your license to be updated.  Once you verify renewal, you must order a new license card by using the "Order or Print a License" option from our website; you are given the option to download a free license card for immediate printing or to purchase a blue license card to be mailed to you.  A printout from the "Search and Verify License" page is not acceptable; you must login at the "Order or Print a License" page to order a new card to be mailed or to print out the free card.

Indiana law requires those engaged in the practice of pharmacy to display their licenses/registrations where they are practicing; therefore, you must either download the free license card or purchase an updated blue card to post.


If you answered “yes” to any of the questions regarding disciplinary actions, arrests, convictions, etc., when completing the renewal process, you must submit the following:

  1. Detailed statement describing the response, including location, date, and disposition; AND
  2. Official documentation regarding the event (copies of all court documents, disciplinary orders, treatment information, addictionology evaluations, etc.).

The Board reserves the right to request additional information to help them make an informed decision regarding your renewal.   The Board may also request a personal appearance in front of them to discuss the response(s).


An e-Profile # is a unique identifier assigned to you as an individual and will be used in the future as a secure identifier to protect and transact your personal license-related business in a secure and private manner.  This is the number you will use to report CE, register for examinations with NABP, etc.  This number will replace use of your social security number and is designed to protect your personal information.  You must have your e-Profile # in order to complete the renewal process; click here for additional information.


Name Change
You may have your name changed on your license by sending an official name change document (i.e. marriage certificate, divorce decree, court documents) to the Board office.  This may be submitted with your paper renewal form or, if renewing online, you may fax the document to the Board at 317.233.4236 or e-mail the document to; please include your certification number and how you want your name to read on your certificate.

Address Change
You may submit your change of address on your paper renewal application or your online renewal application.  You may also submit your change of address at any time online using LicenseExpress or by submitting a written notice to the Board.  Your written notice must include your name, certification number, and both your old and new addresses; this notification may be sent by e-mail to or by fax to 317.233.4236.
