Members considering retirement get answers to questions
INDIANAPOLIS (May 7, 2008) – The Indiana Public Employees’ Retirement Fund (PERF) is offering free pre-retirement workshops to PERF fund members who are within 18 months of retirement.
The workshops – between May and July – are among 200 sessions offered each year. Members may attend either a 9:30 a.m. or 2 p.m. session.
Workshop attendees will receive:
A personalized benefit estimate
Budget information for retirement
Explanation of retirement options
Step-by-step instructions for completing a retirement application
Information about working after retirement
Answers to retirement questions
In order to ensure a smooth transition from their last paycheck and first benefit payment, members are encouraged to submit retirement applications to PERF no later than six months before their retirement date.
Due to limited seating, registration is required to attend a workshop. Register online at www.perf.in.gov or call PERF toll-free at (888) 526-1687.
Currently, pre-retirement workshops are for members of the main PERF fund. Members of other plans – such as police, firefighters and conservation officers – may contact PERF to schedule an individual counseling session, or they may discuss plan specifics with their employer.
About PERF
With fiscal year-end assets of $17.2 billion, The Public Employees’ Retirement Fund (PERF) is headquartered in Indianapolis. PERF serves the needs of more than 220,000 public employees and retirees throughout Indiana.
PERF Pre-Retirement Workshop Schedule:
Workshops begin at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Two weeks before their scheduled workshop, members will receive a confirmation, including the date, time and workshop location that they selected.
