PERF’s ‘77 Fund Team Honored by Governor Daniels
Fourth Governor’s Award in 27 Months for PERF
INDIANAPOLIS (May 9, 2008) – Employees of the Indiana Public Employees’ Retirement Fund (PERF) have been honored by Governor Mitch Daniels with the Governor’s Public Service Achievement Award. This marks the fourth time a PERF team has received the governor’s award in the last 27 months.
Recognized May 8 were six members of PERF’s 1977 Police Officers’ and Firefighters’ Fund team who were instrumental in dramatically increasing the level of customer service provided to 1977 Fund and Non-PERF Fund members including Legislators, Judges, Prosecuting Attorneys and Excise Gaming and Conservation Officers.
“This team has come a long way in focusing on the customer while driving process efficiencies by thoroughly streamlining operations and developing time and cost saving procedures,” said Steven Barley, Chief Operating Officer & Deputy Director. “They do not rest on these successes and continuously look for ways to improve the value PERF offers to these and all of our members.”
The team’s key accomplishments over the past six months include:
- On average, 97% of retirements processed without payment interruption
- On average, 100% of distributions processed within 30 days after receipt
- On average, 20 days to receive a retirement check
The six employees honored Thursday were among many state workers honored by Governor Daniels. The team members awarded include: Floyd Teamer, Terri Creal, Julae Johansen, Carol Perkins, Linda Stahl and Susan Thompson.
Demonstrated through measurable results, this award recognizes state employees who have made a significant contribution to advancing the objectives of improving government efficiency and customer service.
In May 2007, PERF’s Retirement Benefits team received the governor’s award and in August 2006, PERF’s Distribution Department was honored by the governor. PERF staff attorney Will Frayer received this mark of distinction in February 2006.
