Thomas Morrison, son of Ephriam and Nancy (Forster) Hattick Morrison was born in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, on August 9, 1792. He moved with his family to the Cincinnati area in 1796, and Dearborn County, Indiana, in 1800. After the death of Nancy Forster Hattick Morrison in 1803, the rest of the Morrison family moved to Clark County, Ohio.
After a failed attempt at farming, Morrison moved to Dayton, Ohio, where he learned the construction trade and worked building houses, commercial buildings, and bridges. In the 1820s, Morrison became a merchant and traveled up and down the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers, trading goods and produce and traveling as far south as Little Rock, Arkansas. He married Sarah H. sometime before 1826. Morrison died March 23, 1879 outside Dayton.
