Biographical Note:
Charlotte [Arlie] Cathcart was born June 22, 1877, in Indianapolis, to Robert Weir and Alice (Morrison) Cathcart. She attended the Girls’ Classical School in Indianapolis, founded by May Wright Sewall. Cathcart remained unmarried her entire life, and worked as society editor for the Indianapolis News, as a hospital stenographer in France during World War I, and as head of the travel department for the Fletcher American Bank in Indianapolis. She died in August 1964.

Scope and Content:
This collection contains a photocopy of a letter from Cathcart to her childhood friend, Helen (Edson) Ennis. Included is a map of the neighborhood in which they grew up (at the intersection of Pennsylvania and 9th Streets, Indianapolis), along with a list of the people who lived in area at the time. The date referenced by the map is unknown.
