Biographical Note or Organizational History:
Josiah B. Gilberts enlisted in the 84th Indiana Volunteer Infantry from Dublin, Indiana on August 9, 1862. He mustered out on July 25, 1864, and transferred to the U.S. Pioneer Corps. He served in Kentucky and Tennessee during the Civil War. He survived the Civil War.

This collection consists of a Civil War diary and maps from J. B. Gilberts from August 8, 1862, with the last entry dated, July 4, 1865.
