Biographical Note:
George Harlan was born circa 1819 in Indiana. He spent most or all of his life in Union County, Indiana where he, his wife Malinda, and their children were farmers. George and Malinda Harlan were married 7 November 1841 and had seven children together.

Scope and Content Note:
This document certifies that George Harlan’s application for a patent for an improvement that he made to a corn drill was approved on 30 April 1861. Apparently Harlan developed this improvement through his experience as a farmer.
