Sara (Sally) Ann Bereman was born on June 9, 1808 in New Jersey to Joel Bereman and wife unknown and sister to Hannah, Eli, Thomas, Polly, and J.N. Bereman. Her family moved out west and by 1832, she was living in New Market, Ohio. She married Thomas Barrett on March 19, 1840. She had four children, Nancy, Joel, Eli C., and Lewis Barrett. She died in 1884.

Scope and Content:
The collection contains letters written by Hannah Bereman and N. Bereman of Madison County, Indiana to Sally Ann Bereman of New Market, Ohio. The letters discuss family members, the homestead, and hardships of daily life. There are some discrepancies in dates given in the letters for events and records found.
