Biographical Note:

Elisabeth Hampton Friermood was born in 1903, in Marion, Indiana. Friermood worked as a children’s librarian at the Marion Public Library from 1925 to 1928, before moving to Ohio to become the children’s librarian at Dayton Public Library from 1930 to 1942. Friermood also wrote eighteen books, mostly fiction, that focused primarily on Midwestern life during the nineteenth century. Topics included the Underground Railroad, Spanish American War, and general pioneer life. Elisabeth Friermood died in 1992.

Scope and Content Note:

The collection contains correspondence and research notes regarding Elisabeth H. Friermood’s manuscript “Doc Dudley’s Daughter.” Also included is the first draft, last typed copy, and printer’s proof of the manuscript.
